Komorebi House | A Showa-Era Japanese Garden Villa

Komorebi House was born during Japan's vibrant Showa era, originally built as a private villa for the president of a construction company. More than simply a home, it was designed as a retreat where craftsmanship, natural materials, and the beauty of everyday living come together in harmony.

Built as a traditional single-story residence using Japanese hinoki cypress, zelkova, and rare Kiso hinoki, the house reflects the quiet elegance and warmth of classic Japanese architecture. Every beam, pillar, and room preserves the spirit of a slower and more thoughtful way of life.

The garden combines several iconic Japanese garden styles - from stone landscapes and tea garden paths to strolling scenery that changes with every step - creating a peaceful space where nature and stillness coexist.

In a fast-moving world, Komorebi House offers something increasingly rare: time, calm, and the quiet comfort of traditional Japanese living.

Location

Located in the peaceful countryside of Tako, a quiet area surrounded by nature, local farms, and the slower rhythm of traditional Japanese life. While the setting feels calm and secluded, everyday conveniences are always nearby.

Convenience stores, supermarkets, and local restaurants can all be reached within a short drive, making it easy to enjoy both comfort and privacy during your stay. The house is also conveniently located near Narita International Airport, making it an ideal place to stay before or after a flight.

Beyond its convenience, Tako is also a wonderful gateway to some of Chiba's hidden gems. From historic towns and traditional shrines to quiet countryside roads, local markets, and coastal scenery, the surrounding area offers a more authentic and peaceful side of Japan, away from the crowds of major tourist destinations.

Despite being only about an hour from Tokyo, the atmosphere here feels completely different - slower, quieter, and deeply connected to nature and everyday Japanese culture.

Activities

A short drive away, you can wander through the charming canals and traditional streets of Sawara, often called "Little Edo," where old merchant houses, riverside cafes, and boat rides recreate the atmosphere of old Japan.

You can also visit the sacred Katori Shrine, one of Japan's oldest shrines, surrounded by deep forest and a peaceful spiritual atmosphere. Nearby countryside roads and rice fields are perfect for quiet drives, cycling, and discovering hidden local scenery throughout the seasons.

For guests arriving from abroad, Narita itself offers many memorable experiences. Stroll along Naritasan Omotesando and Omotesando Street, lined with traditional shops, cafes, and local street food leading to the historic Naritasan Shinsho-ji temple complex.

Nature lovers can enjoy peaceful walks through Naritasan Park, countryside parks such as Sakatagaike Comprehensive Park, or even watch airplanes pass over the cherry trees at Sakuranoyama Park - a uniquely Narita experience.

The area is also filled with small hidden gems: local craft shops, traditional sweets, countryside cafes, and family-run restaurants where you can experience everyday Japanese life away from the crowds. Many travelers describe the region as one of Japan's most underrated places, where time feels slower and the atmosphere remains deeply authentic.
